When I had studied in Italy in undergrad, I tried to go to Paris multiple times and because of train delays, train strikes and other issues, never made it.  Somewhere in my head I never thought I'd see Paris.
And as the vehicle disappeared around a bend, and the headlights no longer were visible, the entire earth went black. I stood completely still and looked up and saw an expanse of stars stretched over me
A rush of relief swept over me as I sat down and looked around.  Surrounded by jagged rock and low clouds, there was a stillness. And a peacefulness.
As the sun set, the light sparked the clouds to blaze like a fire.  Each second was a new magnificent hue, more impressive than the last.
